Backyard Phenology |
 |
What the heck is phenology? It's the study of the seasonal cycles of plants and animals. Those cycles are noticeably changing as the effects of global warming advance faster than originally projected. The Backyard Phenology project is a collaboration of scientists and artists who want to engage and tap into "citizen scientists" like you and me who are willing to observe and document changes they observe in their backyards. Data is ultimately gathered and used by University of Minnesota scientists and the Phenology Network to help track the impacts and effects of climate change. Citizen scientist are encouraged to record their observations in a handy calendar booklet of our design that prompts with phenological events such as when great horned owls should be laying eggs and asters bloom. |
